Herbal water retention tablets ease that bloat

Sometimes we can all feel a little bloated, regardless of our diet.  Feeling full, sluggish and generally uncomfortable can be a sign that you are suffering from fluid retention. It can even affect other parts of your body, causing your ankles, hands and fingers to swell. Taking herbal water retention tablets and making small changes to your diet can help reduce that bloated feeling.

Whilst uncomfortable, water retention is not usually a serious medical issue. Our bodies are made up of 70% water, so suffering from water retention is not uncommon, particularly in warmer weather.

Although it is generally nothing to worry about, persistent water retention could be the sign of an underlying medical condition or a reaction to medication, so you should always check with your GP if you are concerned.

What is water retention?

Water retention, medically known as oedema, usually occurs when fluid is not fully removed from the tissues in the body.  This build-up of fluid can happen anywhere in the circulatory system, body tissues, or other cavities in the body. You can have generalised oedema, which occurs throughout the body, including the skin, or a bout of localised oedema which only affects a particular area.

Fluid retention usually affects your abdomen, ankles, hands or feet.  As well as feeling bloated, you may also be a little stiff and achy. So, if you are feeling slow, struggling to fit your wedding ring back on your finger, or your jeans are a little too snug today, it may be that you are retaining some excess fluid.

The most common symptoms include:

  • Swelling of parts of your body, particularly ankles, feet and fingers
  • A bloated and sore tummy
  • Feeling stiff and achy
  • Fluctuations in your day-to-day weight
  • Stiffness in your joints
  • Localised swelling which when pressed, may hold the indent for a few second

How do herbal water retention tablets help?

Herbal water retention tablets contain ingredients that help the body to shed some of those troublesome excess fluids. If you would prefer to avoid harsh medicines, you may want to choose herbal water retention tablets to help reduce the swelling or bloating that is caused by water retention. These tablets contain plant-based ingredients that have been used for centuries to relieve water retention.

How do water retention tablets work?

Whilst it is true that you can prevent water retention by making changes to your diet and lifestyle, water retention tablets can help to speed up and increase the effectiveness of the process.  They gently help your body to return to its correct fluid balance by helping to get rid of excess water through the production of urine. They can start to work almost immediately and for most people, they don’t have side effects, although you should always check the patient information leaflet before taking any form of medicine.

You can also help things along by remembering to drink plenty of water and choosing foods that are rich in potassium but low in salt and sodium. Vitamins such as B6 and magnesium can also help prevent further bouts of fluid retention.

Can water retention tablets help with weight loss?

Water retention tablets cannot help you lose unwanted fat, but effective remedies for fluid retention can reduce unwanted weight caused by excess fluid, which could amount to several pounds, particularly for many women during your menstrual cycle. If the cause is hormonal, you may find your weight levels out as your hormones settle back down during your monthly cycle.

The safest and most effective way to shed the pounds, of course, is to eat a healthy balanced diet and undertake regular exercise.
